Local non-profits gathering Saturday for first Community Action Fair at Calvary Center

West Philadelphia Community Action Fair will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Calvary Center for Culture and Community (48th and Baltimore).

This Saturday afternoon, more than 10 community organizations will gather in the Calvary Center for Culture and Community as a part of the first two-hour West Philadelphia Community Action Fair.

Here’s the full list of participating organizations, you might recognize these names from around the neighborhood:

• Aspire A New Beginning
• Community Solutions CDC
• Kingsessing Recreation Center
• Media Mobilizing Project
• Neighborhood Bike Works
• Never Too Late To Read
• Put People First
• Repair The World
• Sisters for Motivation
• Socialist Alternative
• West Philly Tool Library
• Working Educators

People don’t have to sign up in advance to attend, it’s open to the public. The entrance is on 48th street. 

“This is the start of ongoing ways to increase community involvement in the future,” said event organizer Paul Dexter. “What I wanted to do is have a way to make it easier for the neighborhood to get engaged in the community, to volunteer and participate in other activities that are going on.”
