The Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival is returning for its milestone 20th season with a powerful tribute to jazz icon John Coltrane as the community approaches the centennial of his birth. The free, family-friendly event will take place rain or shine on Sunday, July 19, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Saunders Park Greene (39th Street and Powelton Avenue).

Organized through a collaborative effort by HopePHL’s community-based programs, The Producer’s Guild of Philadelphia, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and a dedicated committee of local residents—with technical production from Nu Millenium Productions—the festival promises an unforgettable day of culture and community. Another great neighborhood tradition is returning to Spruce Hill this weekend. The annual Clark Park Music & Arts Festival is set to rock West Philadelphia on Saturday, June 20, bringing a vibrant celebration of local talent, community spirit, and the arrival of the summer solstice.

Running from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 43rd Street and Chester Avenue, this free, family-friendly gathering has been a neighborhood staple since 1970. For over 50 years, the festival has transformed the Clark Park bowl into a bustling hub for music lovers, creators, and residents of all backgrounds.

Outdoor summer jazz is officially back in West Philly! The annual Cedar Park Jazz series returns this Friday, June 5, bringing live music, community vibes, and great energy to 49th and Baltimore.

Starting this week and running through the end of July, nine incredible local bands will take the stage every Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (weather permitting).

This is a free, family-friendly event open to everyone. Grab your lawn chairs, pack a cooler with water and snacks, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!

Get ready for a neighborhood-wide block party! West Philly Porchfest is returning for a major milestone this weekend, celebrating its 10th annual edition on Saturday, May 30, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

UPDATE (5/8/26): The Spruce Hill May Fair is still a go for tomorrow, despite rain showers in the afternoon forecast. Organizers are prepared to work around any passing clouds and hope the community will join them regardless of the weather.

The annual Spruce Hill May Fair, the biggest fundraising event for the Spruce Hill Community Association (SHCA), will be held in Clark Park (43rd and Chester) this Saturday, May 9, 12-6 p.m..

This year’s May Fair is expected to be “larger and livelier than ever,” according to the organizers. It will feature:

• Live music throughout the day, featuring Mad Beatz Philly, Ants on a Log, Settlement Music School Jazz Ensemble, Upholstery, and Steady State.

• Family friendly activities, including a Petting Zoo, moon bounce and obstacle course, free kids games, and Stacey’s Face Painting.

A West Philly-rooted lineup graces the Trolley Portal Gardens this spring as Pop-Ups at the Portal returns to 40th and Baltimore Ave. starting May 7. University City District is teaming up with local performer and curator  Gretchen Elise to present five weeks of free, interactive, all-ages entertainment. Pop-ups will run every Thursday from May 7 through June 4, 5:30 p.m.– 7:30 p.m., and are fair-weather only.
