Movies in Clark Park makes its return to the Clark Park bowl at 43rd and Chester this Friday, Aug. 7, kicking off four consecutive weeks of free outdoor film screenings under the stars.

Presented by University City District (UCD) in partnership with Friends of Clark Park and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the beloved annual summer tradition runs every Friday evening throughout August. In recognition of the 250th anniversary of America, this year’s lineup centers on the community-voted theme of “Freedom.”

Here’s the schedule:

August 7: A League of Their Own (1992, PG) – The classic sports comedy-drama following the trailblazing women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
August 14: Harriet (2019, PG-13) – The inspiring biographical drama starring Cynthia Erivo as heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
August 21: Zootopia 2 (2025, PG) – The family-friendly animated follow-up featuring the return of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.
August 28: The Matrix (1999, R) – The iconic sci-fi action film starring Keanu Reeves.

Pre-show lawn activities and community gatherings begin around 6:30 p.m., with films starting at dusk (approximately 8:00–8:20 p.m.). Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics. Local food vendors and neighborhood eateries along Baltimore Avenue will also be open nearby.

Screenings depend on fair weather and dry ground conditions in the bowl. UCD has designated Friday, Sept. 4 as a backup rain date should any screening be postponed. Weather updates and schedule changes will be posted on UCD’s social media channels (@universitycity).
