10/3/25: The West Philly Tool Library (WPTL), which has been lending a wide variety of tools to community members from their warehouse on S. 47th Street for nearly 15 years, is being forced to move to a new location due to their lease not being renewed, according to an announcement on social media.

Due to the unexpected move, which must happen before the end of the year, the WPTL staff are asking for help from the community.

“We need your help so we can move, complete repairs, and build-out the new interior spaces,” reads the announcement on the Tool Library’s Instagram page. “We have always tried to avoid asking for donations, but this move… will require additional support so we can get back up and running.”

The WPTL staff are asking for the following donations: time, construction materials, and/or money because “every little bit helps us continue our mission to serve the community!”

WPTL is also holding a community fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 25. For more details, visit the WPTL website and also follow them on Instagram:
