Drexel program connects neurodiverse job seekers to local employers; Next hiring event is June 27

The Drexel Business Inclusion Center (BIC), which develops strategies and assists businesses in building a diverse and inclusive workforce, is hosting an Aramark hiring event on Tuesday, June 27 for individuals on the autism spectrum and with other disabilities. The event will take place at Drexel’s Handschumacher Dining Center (3210 Chestnut St) between 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Candidates will be interviewed for a variety of positions and receive on-the-spot job offers for positions, many starting in August and September 2023.

Job seekers who arrive before 2 p.m. will be guaranteed an interview and have access to:

• assistance in completing the application,
• benefits counseling,
• support for interviewing,
• connection to resources,
• additional support throughout the event, provided by the Drexel Business Inclusion Center.

Many full and part-time positions will be available at various Aramark locations, including Drexel University, Temple University, La Salle University, Saint Joseph’s University, Jefferson Methodist Hospital, Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools, and many more.

The Drexel BIC is a collaboration of Transition Pathways and Community Integrated Services, which both have a team of experienced professionals with deep knowledge of the challenges job seekers with disabilities face and the issues affecting businesses. Transition Pathways is a Drexel program that helps young adults on the autism spectrum transition to adulthood.

The Drexel BIC has engaged approximately 250 businesses, trained more than 1,300 professionals, and worked collaboratively with some of the largest organizations in the Philadelphia region. For more details about this program, visit: drexel.edu/autisminstitute/bic.
