If you have missed Milk & Honey Market since its closure in 2020, this news may excite you. Third Wheel Cheese Company, which was established in 2018 as a wholesale operation, has opened a new retail shop at 705 S. 50th St. The company, run by local foodie, food justice advocate and entrepreneur Ann Karlen, features a variety of artisanal, locally-made cheeses. The shop, which is located at the front of its warehouse, will hold its grand opening celebration on Thursday, June 15, from 1-6 p.m..

The shop will also carry regionally-made meats, crackers, jams and preserves, mustards, honey, olives, and other fresh and organic products, according to a report by The Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Michael Klein.

Shop hours are: Thursday & Friday: 1 p.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. For more information, visit the company’s website: www.thirdwheelcheeseco.com.

Cleo Bagels, formerly known as Dodo Bagels, is opening its first brick-and-mortar location at 5013 Baltimore this summer, according to reports. Owner Alex Malamy, a Brooklyn native, bagel enthusiast and home baker, launched his business at his West Philly home in 2016, and has vended his hand-rolled, hearth-baked bagels at places like Clark Park Farmers Market and Lil’ Pop Shop. Alex’s plans to open a brick-and-mortar shop were delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are so close to opening our brick and mortar location at 5013 Baltimore Avenue in West Philly,” Alex wrote on his company’s website. “Cleo remains a small batch bagel operation. We look forward to picking up where we left off in March, 2020 and providing the neighborhood with high quality and mostly traditional fresh baked bagels, tasty creative sandwiches and much more soon.”
