Clark Park Movie Nights to kick off with screening of “Black Panther” and COVID vaccine clinic (updated)

August 4, 2021

The University City District’s free outdoor movie screening series is returning this Friday (Aug. 6) to Clark Park. The series will kick off with a screening of “Black Panther” at Clark Park’s “Bowl” near 45th and Chester. The opening night will also feature a free COVID vaccine clinic presented by Penn Medicine.

The vaccine clinic will be held from 6-8 p.m.. Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available for residents ages 12 and older, and the first 60 people who receive their doses will receive a $25 gift card to Renata’s Kitchen or Booker’s. Registration is not required, but is encouraged (please text “READY” to 267.263.7297).

Movies in Clark Park will be screened every Friday throughout this month. The films will be screened beginning at sundown during fair weather. In the event of inclement weather, Friday, Sept. 24 has been reserved as a rain date to screen one film.

This year, the organizers are asking guests to register for each event so they can offer multiple seating options and share announcements if needed. Three seating areas are available (see image below):

• COVID Safety Seating Area (designated with blue flags; registration is required)

• Fully Vaccinated Groups (designated with red flags; registration is required)

• Open Seating (designated with white flags)
