Maybe I don’t know Pennsylvania law, but why was a 16 year-old minor’s name/identity allowed to be released to the public?

  2. Joe Clarke Says:

Two kids with a gun. If they hadn’t had the gun they would have either fought with their hands, run or let it go. Instead, possession and use of the gun will put them both in jail for a long time, complete with a record.

@slugmother Typically, police wouldn’t release the name of a juvenile. But in PA, like most states, they have the discretion to release names depending on the severity of the crime. These young men are wanted for serious felonies and they are at large, which prompted the police to release names. As for the press, there is no restriction on printing the names of juveniles under any circumstances. The same applies to victims of crimes, such as rape victims. This is a question of ethics. We would never name a rape victim and use discretion when publishing the names of juveniles connected with crime.

Thank you for the clarification. I do agree that such a severe crime deserves his identity to be released, but didn’t realize why that was allowed.

i feel oddly sorry for the brother who did nothing (other than aid and abet by keeping quiet after the fact) but run.
