UCD offers community vending opportunities at Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll

March 18, 2019

Applications are now open for community vendors who would like to be a part of this year’s Baltimore Avenue Dollar Strolls, which will be held on June 6th and September 12th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For the first time this year, not only community food vendors but also merchandise vendors are invited to officially participate along with dozens of Baltimore Avenue businesses.

Organized by University City District (UCD) and Baltimore Avenue Business Association (BABA), the strolls draw thousands of visitors, who enjoy $1 specials along Baltimore Avenue, from 43rd to 52nd streets. The purpose of selecting official vendors is to “ensure all vendors are in compliance with Philadelphia permitting codes, whether Philadelphia Health Department codes for food vending, or the Department of Licenses and Inspections for merchandise vendors,” according to a statement by UCD.

All vendors must plan to sell a minimum of one item at a $1 price point, according to UCD. Priority will be given to vendors based within the  five zip codes of West Philadelphia (19104, 19131, 19139, 19143, of 19151). Selected food and merchandise vendors will be included on maps and marketing materials for the event. To learn more about the vending requirements, please go here.

UCD and the Philadelphia Health Department will be holding an information session on how to become a community food vendor on Thursday, April 4 at 12 p.m. at UCD’s offices (3940 Chestnut St.). Please contact Margaret Starke, UCD Event Planner, at Margaret@universitycity.org to RSVP to the information session, or to apply to vend.

The deadline for applicants for the June Stroll is April 15, 2019.
