Keep an eye out for Pan and LuLu (update – 11-23: Pan and LuLu found!)

Below is Pan, male, a 3-year-old tabby missing from 43rd near the Green Line Cafe.  He might have a blue collar on.  Brown tabby with white mouth, throat and paws.

LuLu, no collar, is missing from 44th & Larchwood. She has microchip and is a  brown tabby with white mouth.

Books Through Bars needs bags

The West Philly-based Books Through Bars always needs paper bags for their packages. So if you are thinking of throwing those bags in the recycling, why not just stroll down to the A-space at 4722 Baltimore Ave. and drop them off. You can bring them on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 pm when they pack books, or slip them through the mail-slot on the A-Space door any time.

Asleep at the wheel

A driver who smashed his SUV into a parked car before flipping it on 44th Street between Pine and Larchwood late Sunday afternoon told witnesses that he fell asleep behind the wheel. The unidentified driver was not injured in the crash.

Alleged car thief killed at 40th and Locust

This car, which police say was jacked near 50th and Arch early Sunday, crashed into a barrier at 40th and Locust. Police shot and killed one of the car’s occupants after he fired at them.

 

Police shot and killed a man early Sunday morning near the corner of 40th and Locust after gunshots were exchanged, according to Penn’s Division of Public Safety. The incident began as an armed car jacking near 50th and Arch.
Philadelphia police chased the vehicle, a silver Cadillac, until it crashed into a barrier near the Penn campus. One man fired at police as he fled the crash scene. Police returned fire, killing the man. Another man who fled was later apprehended. Neither man has been identified. More information as it becomes available.

Foiled robberies at 47th and Baltimore

A teenage would-be robber was twice chased off by potential victims earlier this week near 47th and Baltimore, the Metro reports. A 38-year-old man told police that a young man approached him at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday armed with a knife and demanded money. After being punch in the face, the victim responded by brandishing Mace.

About 10 minutes later a woman reported that a young man approached her near 46th and Hazel and demanded money and her cell phone. She refused. The man fled after saying, “You’re lucky you’re a f—— female.”
