The City’s Department of Streets has opened registration for residents and groups who want to participate in this year’s Spring Cleanup, the annual citywide cleaning, beautification and greening program.
This year, the event will be held on Saturday, April 2. Individuals and organizations are invited to submit their projects, such as park and neighborhood cleanups, or register as volunteers.
The Spring Cleanup activities include trash pick-up, sweeping sidewalks, removing graffiti, painting benches, planting bulbs and more.
Project registration deadline is Friday, March 18. Volunteers registration closes on Friday, April 1.
The program launched in 2008 and since then a total of 200,000 volunteers have removed more than 11 million pounds of trash.

UPDATE (April 5, 2018): Due to snow in the forecast for Saturday, April 7, the 11th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup has been postponed until next Saturday, April 14.
The 11th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 14, and residents are encouraged to join local community efforts at cleaning and beautifying neighborhood parks, streets and empty lots. There are numerous cleanup sites in West Philly; please visit www.phillyspringcleanup.com to find a site near you and register.

• From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., join Cedar Park Neighbors in a spring cleanup at Cedar Park (49th and Baltimore). It’s time to get back outdoors and wake up the gardens! Due to bad weather, many local park cleanups scheduled for May 13 as part of the Love Your Park week had to be postponed. So, much to the delight of the Friends of Barkan Park, the organizer of the spring clean-up and planting event in this small park located at 50th and Spruce, a lot of volunteers showed up for the rescheduled event on Saturday, May 20. The 10th annual Philly Spring Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and volunteer help is essential for the success of this event. 130 project sites have been registered in West Philadelphia on the Philadelphia Streets Department website. Residents can view the projects in their neighborhood and register to volunteer here.

The city will hold its 9th annual Spring Cleanup on Saturday, Apr. 16 (rescheduled from Apr. 9 due to inclement weather forecast). More than 800 cleanup projects have been registered throughout the city, including dozens in West Philadelphia. Community involvement is essential and many projects are still seeking volunteers. Residents are also encouraged to step outside their buildings, pick up trash and remove debris or check out empty lots nearby for litter.

On Saturday, April 11, thousands of people throughout the city will take to their neighborhood streets, parks or lots for the annual Philly Spring Cleanup. This will be the 8th Spring Cleanup organized by the city and supported by many local organizations. As always, there is an opportunity for everyone to participate in this important neighborhood cleaning and beautification event, and you can now choose and sign up for projects in your area (see map below) by visiting the Philly Spring Cleanup website.
Or just step outside your house or apartment building and pick up some litter, dead leaves and sticks!
