Spring Egg Hunts are back!

Here’s good news for our little neighbors: Some popular local Spring Egg Hunts will be held again after a two-year break. There’s also an egg hunt happening at a new location this year. Here’s what’s happening this Saturday and Sunday (if you know of an egg hunt that’s not on this list please post a comment below):

Saturday, April 16

Neighborhood Spring Egg Hunt in Cedar Park (50th and Baltimore)

Cedar Park Neighbors is hosting a Spring Egg Hunt from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome to come find spring eggs filled with treats (see the flyer for more details).

Spring Egg Hunt at the Walnut Street West Library (40th and Locust Walk)

The Friends of Walnut Street West Library (Facebook page) are hosting the Spring Egg Hunt again on the green at New College House (on Locust Walk). The first egg hunt starts at 10:30 a.m. for children under 6 and the second starts at 12:00 p.m. for children over 6. There will be activities, take home craft kits, a storytime, and maybe even the Easter Bunny will make an appearance! Continue Reading

Saturday, April 15

• Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Clark Park

43rd and Chester, 11:00 a.m.

Renewal Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Clark Park, next to the toddler playground, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Ages 1 – 8 are welcome. The event will also include crafts and a raffle basket giveaway, including items from local West Philly businesses. Registration for the Egg Hunt is from 10:45 – 11:15 a.m. For more information, please email: office@renewalchurch.org or call 267.564.5105.

• Friends of Walnut West Library Easter Egg Hunt

Walnut St. West Library (upstairs), 40th and Walnut, 10:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.

The Friends of Walnut West Library will have two Easter Egg Hunts – at 10:30 a.m. for pre-school children (ages 3 – 5), and at 12:30 p.m. for ages 6 to 12.

The Easter weekend is approaching fast so many parents are looking for egg hunt opportunities in the neighborhood. Here are a few possibilities. If you know of more egg hunts please let us know at: editor@westphillylocal.com

Saturday, April 19

egghunt (2)Clark Park (43rd & Chester), 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Kids ages 1 – 8 are invited for an Easter Egg Hunt and some Easter fun at Clark Park from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The event will take place rain or shine! Along with the hunt, there will be some crafts and raffle prizes at the end (see the flyer for more information).

Walnut Street West Library (40th & Walnut), 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Children ages 5 years and under are invited for an egg hunt from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.. An egg hunt for kids ages 6-12 will be 1:00-3:00 p.m..

Woodland Presbyterian Church, 42nd and Pine Sts (42nd Street lawn), 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.

There will be two egg hunts: for kids under 5 years – 1:00 p.m.; for 5 and up – 1:15 p.m.

NEW: Malcolm X Park (52nd & Pine), 2 – 5 p.m.

Friends to Elect Algernong Allen is hosting an Egg Hunt for kids and a Voter Registration Rally for adults at Malcolm X Park on Saturday, from 2 – 5 p.m.

Sunday, April 20

St. Mary’s Church at Penn (Locust Walk near 40th)

St. Mary’s Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will start at 12:45 p.m. All families and children are welcome. The event is sponsored by the St. Mary’s Church School. BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket!)

A break in yesterday’s showers gave about 25 egg hunters the chance to dash around the playground at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (3916 Locust Walk) in search of their bounty.

We were lucky to get a close-up look at the action. The slideshow below shows you what we saw.
