Here are two opportunities for community members to meet candidates in the May 21 primary election.

The 27th Ward democrats are inviting friends and neighbors for a Spring Shindig at Clarkville (43rd and Baltimore), which will take place Monday, March 18, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet and mingle with local Democratic candidates running for office, including Congressman Dwight Evans, who will be a special guest at the event.

This is also a fundraising event supporting the 27th Ward democrats. Tickets are $20 in advance, or sliding scale at the door (no one will be turned away).  Continue Reading

Community members are invited this Thursday (April 12) to a Candidates’ Night for the Democratic candidates running for the 188th district seat. The event is hosted by the 27th Democratic Ward and will feature candidates Jeff Curry, Dianne Settles and the incumbent Jim Roebuck. As the primary election day is approaching fast (it will be held on May 15), this is a great opportunity to discuss current issues in Pennsylvania and ask the candidates what they would do in Harrisburg to bring about the policies you support.

The event will take place at the University of the Sciences, Rosenberger Hall (600 S. 43rd St.) beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Philadelphia general election is on November 7, and here’s an opportunity for West Philly residents to meet some of the Democratic candidates, including Larry Krasner, Philadephia District Attorney. A Democratic Candidates’ Night, organized by the 27th Ward Democratic Committee, will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, at University of the Sciences (Rosenberger Hall, 600 S. 43rd St).  Continue Reading

The public is invited this Thursday (Feb. 4), at 7:30 p.m., to an open forum where democratic candidates for U.S. Representative, 2nd Congressional District, will speak and answer your questions. The forum is organized by the 27th Ward Democrats.

The following candidates will participate in the event:

– Chaka Fattah, Incumbent
– Dwight Evans, Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 203rd District
– Brian Gordon, Township Commissioner, Lower Merion
– Daniel Muroff, Democratic Ward Leader, 9th Ward
– Brian Sims, Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 182nd District

State Senator Vincent Hughes, 7th District, will also take part in the event.

The discussion is expected to be lively, so everyone is encouraged to attend.
