Never mind the DNC, the Summer of 2016 will be marked with a fabulous historical event, the first Philly Seersucker Vintage Bike Ride & Social. On June 25th, 2016 participants attired in cotton, linen and seersucker clothing that harkens back to the era of Prohibition and Gatsby will meet at a to-be-revealed location in Old City Philadelphia and take a casual bike ride around the city. The well-attired group will end the ride at a to-be-revealed location for a vintage-style picnic where classic lawn games and dance instruction will be offered. The Vintage Bike Ride will include stops for some vintage jazz dancing and a rest stop featuring the summer classics iced-tea and lemonade. The Vintage Picnic Social will immediately follow the Ride and bike parking services will be available.
The Vintage Bike Ride is free but all participants are required to register and complete a waiver. The Vintage Picnic Social requires a “2016 Summer Membership Fee” but membership is open to all. Participants can do both activities, or just the Vintage Bike Ride or just the Vintage Picnic Social. The start location for the Vintage Bike Ride and the venue for the Vintage Picnic Social will be revealed the day before via the event’s web site and social media outlets. Gourmet Box Lunches featuring turkey, roast beef or vegetarian entrée’s will be available for per-order and delivered at the Vintage Picnic Social. Net proceeds from the event will benefit Neighborhood Bike Works, a Philadelphia based non-profit that fosters youth development based on cycling and cycling-based activity.
