Cobbs Creek Art club For Kids is a monthly art workshop designed to express creativity and learn about nature with a focus on community building, meditation and mindfulness! The monthly workshops create an empowering space for community members to spend time exploring the natural environment and expressing themselves through art. We’ll explore different art forms led by local artists and inspired by nature. No experience necessary, only a willingness to explore and create with neighbors and local artists in Cobbs Creek.
Join us on Saturday July 29th from 10am-12pm at the Cobbs Creek Rec Center for a portrait drawing workshop for kids and families. You will create vibrant, somewhat abstract self portraits led by West Philly based artist, Nila Devaney. Nila will guide a discussion about how creating art can support the process of identity-building and storytelling and how we can remember through drawing. This exercise is an opportunity to tell your own story, rather than an exercise in drawing an anatomically-correct portrait.
All youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by at adult. Adults must remain present for the duration of the workshop and are encouraged to participate and make art with their young person.
