HMS School invites neighbors to celebrate 144 Years and support student programs at Annual Community Day

October 2, 2026

HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy will host its 5th Annual Community Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its campus located at 4400 Baltimore Avenue. The annual event brings together students, families, staff, alumni, and neighbors to celebrate World Cerebral Palsy Day, mark HMS’s 144th anniversary, and honor the students who drive the school’s mission forward.

This year’s Community Day carries special significance as HMS unveils its Vision for Impact—the centerpiece of a new six-year strategic plan. The roadmap focuses on strengthening the school’s core programs, expanding services, deepening community connections, and creating new possibilities for students and their families.

“The magic of HMS has always come from the extraordinary capabilities, joy, and resilience of our students,” said HMS President & CEO Theresa Newhard. “As we chart our path for the years ahead, we are committed to providing our students with a school experience that redefines what’s possible. Our Vision for Impact includes everyone who believes in this commitment and champions the individuality of our students.”

As part of this milestone celebration, HMS is inviting the broader community to help raise $72,000 during its largest fundraiser of the year to support essential student therapies, specialized services, and future programming.
