Get ready to fill the streets with color, rhythm, and radical joy. This Saturday, Nov. 7 (with a rain date of November 14), Spiral Q invites neighbors, artists, families, and activists to take part in one of West Philadelphia’s most cherished traditions: the 26th Annual Peoplehood Parade & Pageant.
For over two decades, Peoplehood has served as a vibrant testament to Philadelphia’s collective spirit, bringing together hundreds of community members to celebrate solidarity, creativity, and local movements for justice. In May of 2026, City Councilmember Rue Landau honored Spiral Q with a resolution to honor the previous year’s anniversary (see video below).
The festivities kick off at 12 p.m. at the historic Paul Robeson House (4951 Walnut Street), where elaborate handmade art, banners, and towering puppets will be laid out along 50th Street. Visitors can enjoy pre-parade performances and porch drumming before the procession officially steps off at 1 p.m.
The parade route travels 1.5 miles through the heart of West Philadelphia, welcoming participants of all ages to march alongside local advocacy groups, neighborhood coalitions, and marching bands.
Note for attendees: Due to local traffic pattern changes on 47th Street, the parade route has changed after crossing Baltimore Avenue. Make sure to check Spiral Q’s official route guide before heading out.
Street closures will begin at 10 a.m. with 50th street closed between Walnut & Chestnut.
Around 2:30 p.m., the procession will flow into the “bowl” of Clark Park (45th Street and Chester Avenue) for the signature Peoplehood Pageant. Conceived through months of open community art-builds, workshops, and story circles, the live performance brings neighbors together to tell powerful stories of community resilience—shining a light on crucial local issues, from public transit advocacy to environmental protection.
Peoplehood isn’t just a single afternoon event; it is the culmination of a month-long, community-powered art-making process. Whether you plan to march with a community banner, cheer from the sidelines along the route, or catch the pageant performance in Clark Park, your presence is what brings the magic to life.
