Mayor Cherelle Parker has declared a snow emergency in the city beginning Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9 p.m., due to the upcoming winter storm. This means that all vehicles parked on Snow Emergency Routes should be relocated before the snow emergency begins. Any remaining vehicles will be ticketed and relocated.

All Philadelphia School District schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 25 due to the storm.
A winter storm warning was announced earlier today. It will be in effect from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 1 p.m. on Monday when heavy snow and mixed precipitation are expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 12 inches and ice accumulations around three tenths of an inch are expected in southeast Pennsylvania.
Travel is strongly discouraged during this time. Philadelphians are advised to use public transportation, but keep an eye on SEPTA alerts/ announcements for suspended transit routes.
Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages in the area.
