McCausland Arena, new state-of-the-art equestrian facility, opens in West Fairmount Park

September 26, 2025

This week, Work to Ride announced the opening of the McCausland Arena, a brand-new equestrian facility in West Fairmount Park designed to expand the access to equestrian sports for urban youth.

The 45,000-square-foot indoor arena features expanded pastures that have increased in size from 3.5 to 5.5 acres and updated learning areas where the Work to Ride program will continue to host lessons, clinics, and tournaments. The new facility allows Work to Ride to expand community programming while creating year-round opportunities for participants to advance their skills, connect with peers, and experience the lifelong benefits of equestrian sports.

The arena is located at Chamounix Equestrian Center (98 Chamounix Dr), home to Work to Ride, which has empowered Philadelphia youth through equestrian sports, education, and mentorship for 30 years.

“The McCausland Arena allows us to serve more young people, foster a love of equestrian sports, and continue to positively impact the community,” says Lezlie Hiner, Founder and Executive Director of Work to Ride. “The McCausland Arena has been 31 years in the making and will serve as a foundation for education, life skills, and dreams that stretch far beyond the saddle, ensuring that the values and impact of Work to Ride benefit generations to come.”

Work to Ride will celebrate the grand opening of the McCausland Arena with the first-ever Arena Polo Championship on Saturday, Sept. 27 (tickets are sold out!), welcoming the community to experience the new facility while enjoying the exciting polo matches and family activities.
