Construction activities for the Chestnut Street Repaving and Safety Project, which will provide traffic calming and create a high-quality bicycle connection between West Philly and Center City, are scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 7, according to an announcement today by the City of Philadelphia Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability (OTIS).

In addition to repaving Chestnut Street with fresh asphalt, the following improvements are planned from 34th to 63rd Streets:

• New lane lines and roadway layout
• New crosswalks and flexible delineator posts
• A new parking separated bikeway from 63rd to 45th Streets

Construction will take place throughout the month of June during daytime and nighttime hours. Details for construction on each block, including dates and hours, will be posted on signs along the street.

Oh man, where is the semi truck that’s permanently outside of the 36th and Chestnut Wawa going to go?

  2. Hermes Says:

    Awesome! I wonder if/when Walnut will follow….

I’m so glad that semi truck is such a hot button issue for you. Man, me too. Of all that’s going on, can’t we just stop for a minute and wonder about this semi truck that’s permanently parked outside of the 36th and Chestnut Wawa. I mean, man, talk about the things that stick in my craw. Covid? Nah, I’m a healthy one, no need for a mask to avoid spreading it to others. War? Nowhere near me. Gas? I have one of those hipster collapsible bikes. Gun violence on South Street? Was gonna happen sooner or later. I mean all the cool alternativo shops are gone. Inflation? My folks didn’t give me a trust fund for nothing. Semi outside Wawa? Don’t get me started. Do not get me started.
