West Philly Cooperative School collecting donations for Sandy victims

November 2, 2012

The West Philadelphia Cooperative School (4625 Baltimore Ave.) will be collecting donated items for victims of Hurricane Sandy after its open house tomorrow – from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Volunteers are specifically asking for clothing, linens and cleaning products, but all donations will be accepted. The donation drive begins after the school’s open house, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Donated items will be distributed to shelters on Staten Island.

Did the donated items make it to Staten Island yet?

I dropped a couple of bags of clothes off and saw that the porch was full of stuff, and I was ‘touched’ by the West Phila response. I’m glad that they specifically chose Staten Island; I’m afraid those people are being largely forgotten by the powers-that-be in comparison to NJ, Manhattan, and Long Island (not that I think any area deserves more/less help than any other).

I have a lot of stuff I could give but didn’t see this until now. Is it too late to donate?

I have items. Are you still collecting? Thanks.
