West Philly Local presents 2011 Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!

 

Halloween pumpkinsWin prizes from local businesses!

All ages are welcome!

Winners will be selected in the following categories:

  • Scariest
  • Funniest
  • Kids (12 and under)
  • Best Philly-Centered Design
  • Readers Choice.

The contest opens October 15. Submit a snapshot of your pumpkin by email (editor[at]westphillylocal.com) that includes your name, address (West Philly residents only please), and age (if you are entering the Kids category). Entries from kids 12 and under will also be entered into the Kids category.

The entry deadline is now 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 29.

The winners will be announced on October 31. Voting for the Reader’s Choice will run between October 29 and October 31. There will be more info on voting later. Note: One entry per person. We’ll put all photos in a gallery.

Prizes include a $65 gift card (5 class card) from Wake Up Yoga, $25 gift certificate from Aksum, a $25 gift certificate from Dock Street Brewery, a fall food basket ($25 value) from Mariposa Food Co-op, a $20 gift certificate and a tote bag from Vix Emporium and a $25 gift certificate from Milk & Honey.

Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll is back Thursday

If you missed the summer’s first Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll or want to enjoy it again don’t miss the event tomorrow, July 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Last month’s Stroll was a huge success. It brought enormous crowds of neighbors and visitors who strolled to over 15 Baltimore Avenue locations for deals and treats of all varieties, each for only a buck. Participants included Green Line Cafe, Baltimore Pet Shoppe, Dahlak, Desi Village, Milk & Honey, the Gold Standard, and even the Curio Theatre.

Tomorrow’s Stroll will probably be as crowded as the previous one, so come early in order to avoid at least some of those lines.
