Philadelphia’s creative community will gather on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 6:00–10:00 PM for The Red Lipstick Diaries, a photography exhibition and print sale honoring the work of local photographer and Philadelphia cultural figure Reuben “Big Rube” Harley. Presented by Miss Mahogany LLC and RMW Marketing, the event will transform The Stable at Crane Arts, 1431 N. Cadwallader Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122, into a luxury lounge experience for the opening reception, featuring curator discussions and interactive fashion and beauty collaborations.

Harley, a longtime Philadelphia cultural figure known for photography that captures people, personality, beauty, and culture, is currently facing significant medical expenses. From 2011 to 2017, he chronicled Philadelphia’s street-fashion scene as a columnist and photographer for the Philadelphia Daily News.

Having trouble building a meditation practice? Don’t know where to start?

So many of us find meditation impossible, too agitated by our busy minds. Or maybe our bodies are too sore to sit for long. This class addresses both of these barriers, helping warm up the body first, and then teaching you how to sit with whatever the mind is offering today, without resistance.

Our mat-based class begins with a slow and mindful awakening of the body through simple postures. Then we’ll find a supported and comfortable seat — with use of props — to practice the three building blocks of meditation in yoga. We’ll explore different kinds of yogic meditation and learn that the practice isn’t about rigid focus, but returning again and again.

We leave ten minutes at the end for questions about technique or home practice. The class is accessible and beginner-friendly! Meditation is guided, and we’ll routinely return to the basics.

Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center will host the 8th Annual Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 24th from 1-4pm. This FREE event will kick off with a Trick or Treat Trail starting at Spruce St and Cobbs Creek Parkway and end at Environmental Center (700 Cobbs Creek Pkwy). The day will include community resources and vendors as well as programs including mushroom walks, horseback riding, archery, music, art, community resources and environmental education as well as special guest Patty Jackson!

Curio brings you a special evening treat for Halloween! The silent film, with Mason Marlow playing live piano accompaniment from the original score by Hans Erdmann.

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922) is a silent German Expressionist film directed by F.W. Murnau. It is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, following a real estate agent sent to Transylvania to meet the sinister Count Orlok, who brings a trail of plague and death to a German port city. This special event will be held in the Calvary Church Chapel, the perfect backdrop for this Victorian nightmare!

CHOP’s Center for Health Equity, in partnership with the Community of Compassion CDC, is hosting their next Community Health Partnership Clinic to support teens and families in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood with the tools, resources, and health services to help achieve their best health and advance more equitable health outcomes.

The event will provide teens and their families with access to driver’s permit physicals, college and career resources, a variety of health and wellness stations, and giveaways for the whole family to enjoy.

Clean Air Council is teaming up with community partners, Tiny WPA, Amber Art and Design, and Parks and Recreation to co-create art and play spaces in the vision of community members. The project will create Little Nature Playgrounds at Cobbs Creek Park entrances that aim to increase access and offer play and learning spaces for the community. This project includes tree elements, asphalt art murals, little playground structures, and park maps at three locations inside of Cobbs Creek Park. Give your thoughts on the initial designs at the next Cobbs Creek Neighbors Meeting. Come for a community dinner, connect with neighbors, and share your feedback!
