Position Summary:

Calvary United Methodist Church is looking for a part-time piano accompanist for weekly Sunday worship, and occasional other services.

Pay Type: weekly rate

Work Schedule:

Approximately 3 hours per week, primarily on Sundays (10:15 am-12:45 pm at most)
also including one Christmas Eve (evening)

Compensation/Benefits:

$100 per week to start, 4 paid Sundays off per year

Position Responsibilities

• Provide musical accompaniment for Sunday worship
• Provide or support “special music” offering for weekly worship, in consultation and cooperation with volunteer choir coordinator and small Calvary choir
• Participate in weekly email communication with the pastor and choir coordinator to coordinate music for worship
• Participate in monthly virtual planning meeting with pastor and choir coordinator to consider music for the month ahead

Position Qualifications/Expectations

Required Qualifications:

• Skilled pianist, with experience playing piano for group and/or congregational singing
• Basic familiarity and experience with sacred/church music
• Commitment to inclusive/expansive language with musical offerings
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Calvary UMC

Desired Qualifications:

• Skilled in playing a second instrument
• Competent vocalist
• Experience directing choirs
