The 2025 Philadelphia Marathon events will be held this weekend, with races on Saturday, Nov. 22 (half marathon) and Sunday, Nov. 23 (marathon). Both of these events will begin at 6:55 a.m.
As always during this annual event, many roads will be closed to accommodate runners. Streets will be closed in many parts of the city from Friday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 23. The closures will be implemented on a rolling basis. Traffic delays can be expected, and motorists are advised to use alternate routes and allow for extra driving time.
The streets and roads impacted by closures in West Philadelphia on Saturday, Nov. 22 include:
Walnut Street, from 12th Street to 34th Street
34th Street, from Chestnut Street to Girard Avenue
Spring Garden Street, from 32nd Street to 34th Street
Girard Avenue, 33rd Street to 38th Street
33rd Street, from Girard Avenue to Cecil B. Moore Avenue
On Sunday, Nov. 23, the following streets and roads will be affected in West Philadelphia:
Walnut Street, from Broad Street to 34th Street
34th Street, from Chestnut Street to Girard Avenue
Lansdowne Drive, from Girard Avenue to South Concourse Drive
South Concourse Drive, from Lansdowne to West Memorial Hall Drive
East Memorial Hall Drive, from South Concourse to Avenue of the Republic
Avenue of the Republic, from East Memorial Hall Drive to Catholic Fountain
Belmont Avenue, Montgomery to Parkside Avenue
States Drive to Lansdowne Drive
Lansdowne Drive to Girard Avenue
Girard Avenue Bridge, from Lansdowne Drive to 33rd Street
Streets will begin closing as early as 3 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and reopen on a rolling basis as runners go by. All streets in the city, with the exception of Eakins Oval, are scheduled to be reopened by 2 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, but many roads in West Philadelphia are expected to reopen earlier as they are cleared.
