Wonder, an innovative food hall, to open University City location at 39th and Walnut

August 29, 2025

Wonder, a new kind of food hall which lets customers enjoy dishes from some of the world’s best chefs and award-winning restaurants in one order, is opening its newest location in University City next week. This will be Wonder’s third location in Philadelphia and eighth in the greater Philadelphia region.

Wonder allows customers to order from multiple restaurants in a single transaction, with all items prepared fresh in one location. The University City kitchen will feature the full roster of Wonder’s chef partners, including Bobby Flay, Jose Andres, and Marcus Samuelsson, all of which are available for dine-in, pickup or delivery through Wonder’s app throughout University City.

A grand opening event will be held Thursday, Sept. 4 starting at 4:30 p.m., and will include brews from Two Locals, a live set from Josh Lang/BWC Sounds, and merch giveaways including tote bags from local artist Fabiola Lara whose print vending machines have gone viral in and around Philly. Lara’s vending machine will be an ongoing fixture in the shop, showcasing her Philly-centric mini prints. The grand opening is open to the public – everyone can RSVP (for free!) here.

One dollar from every order placed during opening week will be donated to Philabundance. Wonder’s partnership with Philabundance will continue post-opening as well as it is an ongoing partner for all Wonder locations.
