A beloved Spruce Hill tradition is returning this Saturday. The 67th Annual Spruce Hill May Fair, hosted by the Spruce Hill Community Association (SHCA), will take place on May 10, from 12 to 6 p.m. in Clark Park (43rd and Chester Ave). This free, family-friendly celebration is one of West Philadelphia’s longest-running community festivals and a highlight of the spring season.
This year’s May Fair will once again transform Clark Park into a lively hub of local culture, family fun, and community spirit. Attendees can enjoy:
• Live music all day from local performers
• A petting zoo, inflatable slide, face painting, and outdoor games
• A wide variety of food vendors offering tasty local eats
• Dozens of local artisans selling handmade goods, plus the popular University City Garden Club plant sale
• A silent auction and raffle featuring gift baskets and prizes from favorite West Philly businesses
“There is nothing like the Spruce Hill May Fair—it brings everyone together in the best way,” says SHCA President Becca Geller-Puchalsky. “Whether you’re coming for the music, the food, the locally made crafts, the plant sale, or the many kids’ activities, it’s a day that reminds us why we love living here. For 67 years, it’s been a neighbor-led event that truly captures the spirit of our community, and one of the highlights of spring in Spruce Hill.”
The May Fair is also the Spruce Hill Community Association’s only major fundraiser of the year. Proceeds support a range of programs and initiatives, including:
• Community events like Shakespeare in Clark Park, the Halloween Tot Parade, and Clark Park youth soccer
• Cultural programming at University City Arts League
• Support for local schools including Penn Alexander, Lea, and Paul Robeson
Stop at the SHCA booth during the May Fair to purchase raffle tickets ($5 for a book of 6 tickets or $1 per ticket) or consider purchasing them in advance here.
