Indego bike share expands, installs more docking stations in West Philly

Posted on 13 June 2017 by WestPhillyLocal.com

New Indego bike-share station near 40th and Woodland.

Indego, Philadelphia’s bike share program, recently turned two years old and has just announced more docking stations around the city, including several in West Philly/University City.

Here are the new Indego station locations in the area:

• 40th and Woodland
• 38th and Spruce
• 38th and Market
• 30th Street Station East

One of the main criticisms of the Philadelphia bike-share program when it launched in 2015 was its availability in more socially and racially diverse neighborhoods and accessibility to lower-income riders. Last year, the program introduced a new equitable pricing plan and more ways for low-income residents to pay for the service, such as Pennsylvania ACCESS cards.

Over the past year, the program added new docking stations in such neighborhoods as Spruce Hill – at 43rd and Chester, Walnut Hill – at 48th and Spruce and 46th and Market – and West Parkside – at 1575 N. 52nd Street (see Indego station map here).

Posted on June 3, 2017 2:00 pm by Neighborhood Bike Works

We’ll be spending two hours on Saturday, June 3 from 2-4pm to organize NBW‘s heavily used shop space at 3939 Lancaster Ave. Will you help us? Volunteers will strip donated bikes and sort used parts, learn to patch flats, restock Bike Church and Earn-A-Bike parts bins, process bike donations, and more.

With youth and community bicycle education programs running five days a week, it’s a herculean task to keep our space tidy, safe, and usable. Volunteer support is crucial to keeping everything running smoothly!

Neighborhood Bike Works’ Spring Bike Sale

Posted on May 21, 2017 11:00 am by Neighborhood Bike Works

Find a great deal on a quality used bicycle and support Neighborhood Bike Works’ youth and community bicycling and bike repair programs.

At our Spring Bike Sale, we’ll have one-day-only discounts on a huge stock of as-is used bikes, refurbished (ready-to-ride) bikes, and on a large selection of used bike parts, accessories, and apparel. For the sale, we’ll empty our large warehouse of used bikes — so the selection will be huge. And we’ll have staff and volunteers on hand to help you find what you’re looking for.

Best of all, all proceeds from this sale directly support our bike programs for youth and adults in Philadelphia.
