The restaurants are everywhere. Which is your favorite and why?

Absynnia, although Gojjo makes an amazing Ethiopian cheesesteak. (Seriously, try it.) But I love Absynnia's veggie combo and their raw Kitfo special. Also, a big plus is Fiume being right upstairs so you can have a nice whiskey after dinner! Avoid Dahlak unless you're going for karaoke or dollar stroll.

My husband went to Eitho Cafe with a friend once and said that place is great too, but we haven't been there together yet.

So Stacey pretty much covered it! Thats is everything I would have said. Except I would add that Sheba has the best Foul (when they have it) and it's worth going there just for that. The rest of their food is good as well and I find the meat dishes to be of a higher quality than the meat that Abysinnia uses (although they are still pretty good).

Dahlak has the worst Ethiopian food in the neighborhood … but the best summer bar. I call it West Philly's Livingroom.

I haven't been to Ethio yet either, does anyone who has have a review to share?

I concur with Stacy and Travelgirl. Abyssinia (but the service is spotty) then Sheba and Gojjo. To be honest I'm not even that into the bar at Dahlak either, and I like a good dive.

Just to update, my husband and a few friends tried Ethio Cafe a few weeks back and weren't that impressed. The place didn't give me the overall vibe of "cleanliness" as there were gnats flying everywhere and the tables were covered in sticky plastic tablecloths. The food was just so-so; my veggie combo was decent but I thought the meat entrees had a bit to be desired. They also wouldn't take our restaurant.com gift certificate, but whatever. Overall, we'll probably just stick with Absynnia from now on.

Oh, and I should have mentioned, when my husband went to Ethio and loved it, it was at their old location and apparently they have new management now (which is why they wouldn't take our gift cert).

I did not even know that Kaffa was an Ethiopian restaurant! Well, consider me sold, I will be trying it in the near future…
