Traveling While Black is a solo performance by award-winning director, actor, and writer Edris Cooper-Anifowoshe. Inspired by Langston Hughes’ I Wonder As I Wander, Traveling While Black examines the impact of African migration and seeks to explore the tensions between tourism and colonialism. Based on the author’s treks through Europe, the Americas, and Africa, the piece interrogates boundaries and reveals cultural connects and disconnects. Performances are followed by a panel discussion on Black joy and travel as well as policing in Black jurisdictions led in partnership with members of Nomadness Travel Tribe.

Admission: $15.
