The 2018 season of Performances in Public Spaces presents, Minas. The Minas Sextet presents high-quality and authentic Brazilian Bossa Nova and Brazilian Jazz, under the direction of native Brazilian Orlando Haddad and co-leader Patricia King Haddad.

Minas includes audience participation by teaching the audience simple melodic ideas and by passing around 20-30 samba percussion instruments, culminating in a directed samba percussion jam which is enjoyed by adults and children alike. The Minas Sextet includes guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, horns, percussion and vocals. The music is joyful and contagious.

From June through October, the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) presents Performances in Public Spaces, a free series of family-friendly, cultural performances in parks and plazas throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods. The series is part of OACCE’s Arts in Action initiative that regularly brings quality arts programming to communities across Philadelphia and supports local, creative talent.
