In this dark romantic comedy written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar and starring Antonio Banderas and Victoria Abril, a recently released psychiatric patient kidnaps an actress and former porn star, hoping she will fall in love with and marry him, and bear his children.

Third film in a four-part series on Cinema, Censorship, and the Scandal of Sex, which brings together recent films that have been seen as an outrage to decency, morality, religious beliefs, and other community norms.

From Thomas Edison’s 18-second film The Kiss (1896) to recent controversies over trigger warnings on college campuses, the representation of sex on screen has always been a scandal. This series brings together films from the past two decades that have been seen as an outrage to decency, morality, religious beliefs, and other community norms.
