KYLD has received its first grant from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as the Performance in Public Spaces grant from the Office of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy (OACCE). Together, these grants support two free performances of our acclaimed, HOME PROJECT, in the courtyard of Philadelphia’s City Hall, at 2pm and 5:30 pm.

HOME/ S. 9th Street references immigrant journeys, notions of “American-ness” and the meaning of “home”. The work features original music composed by Cory Neale, and the material is informed by the stories of diverse community members along Philadelphia’s famed South 9th Street corridor, where KYL/D’s dance center – CHI Movement Arts Center – is located, and where Artistic and Executive Directors Kun-Yang Lin and Ken Metzner reside. Through the creative process of “Home,” listening becomes a gesture of grace, a way to explore issues of social import, grapple with struggles for justice, and sow seeds for healing and community building through the arts.

Come join us outside for free public performances that celebrate the arts in Philadelphia!
