Elwyn, Inc. is proud to participate in the 24th annual National Depression Screening Day® on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 through the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS)  and the nonprofit, Screening for Mental Health. The event will provide free screenings for depression and other mood disorders at the Free Library of Philadelphia Walnut Street West location at 40th and Walnut Sts.

National Depression Screening Day provides individuals who live in Philadelphia and in communities across the country with the opportunity to determine if they may be experiencing symptoms associated with depression. Similar to many physical illnesses, early recognition and treatment offer the best opportunity for recovery from mental illness. To access an online screening, visit www.HealthyMindsPhilly.org.

Although the screenings are not diagnostic, they will determine if someone is exhibiting symptoms associated with depression and other mood disorders and if they should seek help. In a recent independent study commissioned by the nonprofit Screening for Mental Health, 55 percent of study participants who completed a depression and mood disorder screening sought treatment within three months.

Snacks and giveaways will be available for screening participants and clinicians will be on site to review screening questionnaires and answer any questions.

10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
