Help clean up your local park this Saturday: Volunteers needed for ‘Love Your Park’ Service Day

November 11, 2020

Over 65 parks across Philadelphia will host volunteer clean-up events on Saturday, Nov. 14 as part of the bi-annual “Love Your Park” Service Day.

Residents are encouraged to join local Park Friends groups and help them clean up parks after a busy summer season, collect leaves for compost, plant trees and flower bulbs, and more.

Clean up events are being organized at many West Philly and Southwest Philly parks as well, including Clark Park (43rd and Baltimore), Cedar Park (49th and Baltimore), Malcolm X. Park (51st and Pine), Barkan Park (50th and Spruce), Carroll Park (58th and Girard), Cobbs Creek Park (Cobbs Creek Pkwy and Whitby), Bartram’s Garden (54th and Lindbergh) and more.

Gloves, tools and light refreshments will be provided at many locations. If you would like to help, please go to this page for more information and to register to volunteer at a park near you.

Many volunteer spots are still open. Please note that all events will be capped at 25 total participants and will follow COVID-19 health protocols. All participants are required to wear masks.

By the way, Mayor Jim Kenney, Councilmember Jamie Gauthier and other city officials will join Friends of Clark Park members and volunteers in Clark Park this Saturday at 12 p.m. to celebrate the “Love Your Park” Day.
