The annual Ride of Silence to raise awareness of cycling safety and honor those killed in bicycle accidents will take place Wednesday, May 15 beginning at 6:45 p.m. at the base of the Philadelphia Art Museum steps.

The 8-mile ride will proceed down Benjamin Franklin Parkway, around City Hall and across the Walnut Street Bridge into West Philly before returning to the Art Museum. It should last about an hour.

Five cyclists have been killed in the Delaware Valley over the past year, according to the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia

The ride is being held in Philadelphia for the fifteenth year in a row. Some 350 cyclists took part in the ride in Philadelphia last year.

A brief pre-ride dedication ceremony will begin at 6:45 p.m. and the ride will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Please note that helmets are required and bicycle lights are encouraged for this event.

The Ride of Silence excludes cyclists without helmets.
I guess we are second class citizens, haha.
Do all of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia events exclude cyclists without helmets?
Thanks for organizing the ride despite it’s exclusive nature.
I am with you in spirit.
