Wednesday night margaritas and a great DJ for a good cause: Support the Farm at Bartram’s Garden

November 14, 2016

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, the Farm at Bartram’s Garden will be celebrating its fifth growing season with a benefit dinner at Distrito (3945 Chestnut St), Jose Garces’ award-winning restaurant. This will be an evening filled with joy, friends, and incredible food, and will feature music, cooking and growing demonstrations, and a silent auction.

elizabeth-bartramsAll proceeds from ticket sales benefit the youth programs and food justice outreach that the Farm promotes throughout Southwest Philadelphia. And here’s a special offer: the code FARM16 takes $15 off each $60 ticket, which includes unlimited small plates and two cocktails. The event will take place from 5-7:30 p.m. For more information and tickets, click here.

Since 2011, the Farm at Bartram’s Garden has been a hub for fresh, organic produce; food sovereignty; and community building in Southwest Philly. Located on the banks of the Schuylkill River, the Farm brings new life to the agricultural heritage of Bartram’s Garden.

Last season, powered by 22 paid local high school interns, the Farm produced over 12,000 pounds of food, worked alongside 45 Southwest families in the community garden, provided hands-on education for more than 9,000 school children through Bartram’s Garden programming, distributed over 80,000 vegetable transplants through the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s City Harvest program for more than 130 farms and gardens around Philadelphia, hosted over 1,500 volunteers, and held 50 affordable weekly farm stands.

This year, they’re moving into more independent territory since their University of Pennsylvania grant ran out, so Wednesday’s event is the Farm’s first annual benefit.
