Dine out this Thursday and support ActionAIDS

April 13, 2016

Dine-Out-Fight-AIDSAlong with Caribbean Cuisine Week, which supports young Caribbean athletes participating in this month’s Penn Relays, Dining Out For Life will also be held this week – on Thursday, Apr. 14.

Proceeds from Dining Out For Life go to fund ActionAIDS, an organization providing education, prevention and comprehensive support services to people living with HIV and AIDS throughout the Delaware Valley region.

Started by an ActionAIDS volunteer in 1991, Dining Out For Life is now held in several cities throughout North America. Last year more than 200 restaurants and thousands of diners raised nearly $200,000, and this year, about the same number of participating restaurants will donate 33 percent of their day’s food sales.

“Dining Out For Life is truly a ‘must do’ social event for the Delaware Valley. What’s so tremendous about this annual restaurant event is so feasible for so many. You can grab a breakfast before work, organize a lunch outing with co-workers or make a dinner date with your loved ones. It’s just a really fun and easy way to help others,” says ActionAIDS Executive Director Kevin Burns.

So, here’s what restaurants are participating in West Philly: Distrito (40th and Chestnut; breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks), Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House (3432 Sansom St; lunch, dinner), Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar (40th and Walnut; lunch, dinner), Pod (3636 Sansom St; lunch, dinner, drinks), and the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College (4207 Walnut St; dinner).
