Please keep us posted if there is any news/sightings.

  2. April Says:

We still have not located Bishop, my family and I were cat sitting, we are so worried about him. I sent a photo into the editor hopefully it will be posted soon. Please keep your eyes open and also he does answer to his name often. Thank you.

  3. Linda Says:

I sent a photo too, from your CL ad. Did you get my (email) suggestions for searching, and have you contacted ACCT and Morris shelters? If not, please email me lml3@verizon.net. Keep fresh food and water out for him, post flyers door-to-door and talk to neighbors. He’s probably within a block of home. Let me know if you want to borrow a humane trap.

  4. Neil Says:

Hi, I’ve informed local shelters and ACCT (I visited ACCT personally today to check if they had him), and I’m keeping up the search.

There is a possibility he was seen on Sunday at 46th and Hazel, hiding behind a tree. I’m actually located in South Jersey, but I’m driving in as frequently as possible (once/twice a day) to do a search. I’ll be there again this even.

Here is a picture of him:

Neil, fyi, the photo is now up on westphillylocal. Please note the following response about a possible sighting. Can you email me (directly at lml3@verizon.net) your address, so I know which block you are on? Are any of your neighbors on the lookout?

    Hi,
I did see a gray tabby today. s/he was meowing in the large yard that sits at the se corner of 44th and locust. we were far from home and have two cats who would not welcome an addition. I thought I remembered seeing this email, but forgot to check right when we got home. This was about 3.30. Sorry I’m not much help. Hope you get your cat home.

    Julie

  6. Neil Says:

I’ve sent you an email Linda, many thanks for your help.

  7. Neil Says:

Just got back this morning from searching around the 44th and Locust area – I did see a black cat and a gray tabby with white paws sunning themselves (in a fenced area in the se corner), but neither were my boy unfortunately.

Left my number with a few more people.

  8. Reese Says:

We may have spotted him near the foundation of the home on the NE corner of 48th and Springfield.

  9. Neil Says:

Thank you for the information Reese, it is much appreciated! As soon as I am able to get into Philly, I will search that area.

If anyone in that area sees Bishop and is able to pick him up, please do.

  10. Linda Says:

Unlikely he would have traveled so far… but anything is possible. Reese, if you spot this cat again, could you take a cell phone pic and send it to Neil at simpledogsteps @ gmail.com or 215 510 1798. I will be on 48th later today and will look around. thanks. -Linda

  11. Neil Says:

I received a picture taken of a cat that looks VERY much like Bishop taken on Hazel St on the 4600 block (Thanks PJ!). The wife and I drove in to take a look, but they’re having a street party at the moment, so no luck. We’ll be checking again tomorrow morning.

If it is Bishop, he has now shed his collar, and is mugging passing people for pets (which does sound very much like him)!

  12. Moses Says:

This cat looks a LOT like a cat that’s been begging for attention on the front porches at 49th and Larchwood, but who doesn’t belong to the residents there…

  13. Doug Says:

I live at 49th and Larchwood, but I don’t think this is the kitty who frequents our porch. I will take a walk around the neighborhood and see if there is a stray fitting this picture though. There are a fair number of cat people in this neighborhood, so try not to worry too much!

  14. Linda Says:

    Doug and Moses,
Perhaps if you see this kitty again you could snap a pic and email it to Neil (email and phone# above). Still waiting to confirm if kitty seen on Hazel yesterday is Bishop or not.
    thanks! LL

  15. Marie Says:

🙁 I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I live at 48th & Larchwood and my two kitties have recently been “communicating” through the mail slot with an outside kitty or two. Usually happens 11 PM-2 AM. Next time, I’ll try to open the door and see who is there–and if I can catch them!

  16. Neil Says:

Thank you so much all – I haven’t been able to find the cat on Hazel yet unfortunately, just a solid gray cat. a white cat with a little gray/tan off a back round, and a long haired orange (which a lady told me was a local resident).

  17. Neil Says:

    UPDATE

    We have Bishop back!

This evening, a week exactly since he went missing, he strolled back into the house on Larchwood as though he’d never been away! We just drove into Philly to pick him up – Good grief. He’s now happily munching on a plate of fish and cat food.

Huuuge thanks to everyone who has helped both physically and with supporting words and kindness – a particularly big thank you to Linda, who has been absolutely wonderful throughout. Thank you all!

  18. Mackenzie Says:

April, I know this is irrelevant, but do you happen to know the breed of your cat?
I have a cat named Lucy who looks exactly like that (but with short hair) and I’m dying to know which breed she is.
I’m glad you’ve been reunited with your cat:)
    Have a good one.
