Young male Husky found

March 27, 2011

Male husky foundUpdate from Linda Lee:

Stacy Darrah is still searching for this dog’s owner. She’s put calls
in to Husky rescue groups, as well, and he’s on a couple wait lists.
Stacy’s apartment is small and she has a large dog of her own, so
would like to find another place for him, with a little more room,
until owner turns up or a slot opens up with a rescue. He’s a good
natured young male, with loads of energy, not aggressive. He does fine in a crate and is house broken. She’s arranging for him to be neutered this coming week. Please let her know if you can help out.
She really has her hands full these days! Her number is
267-902-2020. Feel free to call her if you have any questions. Many thanks! -LL

Please contact if you have any information to help these dogs find their owner. I found the dogs at the Rite Aid near 57th & Chestnut St – 215 990 4722. I will post pics soon.

Chili for the chill

March 25, 2011

Chili bowlThank the gods for the cool weather. It has arrived just in time for the 2nd annual University City Arts League (UCAL) Chili Bowl Sale and Cook Off.

Here’s how this thing works: Come to UCAL (4226 Spruce Street) on Sunday, March 27, from noon to 6 p.m., buy a hand-made chili bowl and fill it up with homemade chili. The one-of-a-kind bowl will cost you $20 and the chili is free. Wash down the chili with beer and ale donated by Yards Brewing Co. Wine and soft drinks will also be available.

This UCAL fundraiser is also a chili cooking competition. If you buy a bowl you can vote for the best chili. The winner receives 10 pottery classes to figure out how to make their own chili bowls.

Three local businesses – Colonial Pizza, Local 44 and Milk and Honey Market – are sponsoring the event.
